After Cataract Surgery.

Picture
After surgery has been completed a protective plastic shield will be placed over your eye. You will be offered a refreshment and looked after by our nursing staff until you feel happy to go home.
You will receive your post operative eye drops with instructions on how to use these.
A post-operative check will performed, by me, within a day or two of surgery, and further follow-up discussed at that time. It is normal for the eye to feel a little gritty and a little sore after surgery, although this quickly resolves.

A final check is normally performed by me at around 4-6 weeks after the surgery. If glasses are required you can arrange to see an optician after this. The vast majority of patients do not require glasses for normal distance tasks (eg driving), but will need a pair of reading glasses. Often, a pair of cheap ready made reading glasses are perfectly adequate.
