Practising in Australia since 2008
I was born and brought up in the United Kingdom and then trained in the U.K. and, Australia,
After obtaining my Medical Degree and a 1st Class Degree in Pathological Sciences, I completed my general postgraduate medical and surgical training in the North of England. I then decided to pursue a specialist career in Ophthalmology.
I spent the next 8 years training and working in Ophthalmology departments in the South West, Yorkshire and North East of England.
I was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) and then admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) in 2006. After this I decided to specialise further in the field of Retinal Disease and its medical and surgical management and spent time in UK, Australia and, Germany to undertake further training.
I was encouraged to move to South Australia in 2008 due to the lack of Vitreoretinal Surgeons in SA and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).
I am active in clinical research and teaching of junior ophthalmologists, and medical students at Flinders University and, Flinders Medical Centre. I currently represent the State on the RANZCO Surgical Skills Taskforce which is aiming to improve Ophthalmic Surgical Training in Australia.
I have also served as an external examiner for the MOphth program in Malaysia, am a Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a Member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists.
I currently hold the positions of Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon at Kingswood Eye Centre, EyeMedics and, Flinders Medical Centre, all based in South Australia.
In my spare time I am a fanatical Cyclist, Trail runner and Yogi.
